My final two weeks of classes in New Zealand were both busy and interesting. I wrote and presented my paper for my recreation and tourism course on the importance of trail design in the management of recreation and tourism in New Zealand’s protected areas. I also completed my design for the Christchurch Suburb of Sydenham, proposing a detailed plan as well as a vegetation and materiality strategy of how this area could be redeveloped following the September and February earthquakes. The final assignment for the Design Theory course I took was also quite interesting, we were challenged to write a manifesto, a declaration of our options, thoughts and values regarding the profession of Landscape Architecture. In an attempt to make our unknown profession known I have posted mine .. these values and beliefs I put forth are not concrete and have and will continue to change, evolve and transform with time, my experience and education.
